Black CLP 675 Yamaha Clavinova Digital Piano
“A step up in the CLP piano range” is what our expert, Jack, says about this model. With it showcasing sample sounds from the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial Grand Piano’s, it is perfect for bridging the gap between digital and acoustic instruments.
A Magnificent Voice Taken from Two of the Best Grand Pianos
The piano voice for the black CLP 675 Yamaha Clavinova is sampled from the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial Grand; two grand’s which are renowned for the power, depth and range of their sound. Yamaha have remained faithful to the authentic sound of these two grand’s, and this is clearly illustrated when you place your finger tips to any one of the 88 keys and listen to the beautiful sound which resonates across the room.To produce a beautiful sound which closely matches that of the original, Yamaha had a chief piano technician tune the piano before recording. They kept the key-off samples, which results in a delicate change in tone which is only distinguishable to the trained ear. At Normans we believe that it is these little details which recapture the essence of both the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial Grand.
"You Forget You’re Playing a Digital Piano"
There are several different features which combine to create a truly outstanding playing experience for the pianist - and it’s not bad for the listeners either! To see what makes the beautiful black CLP 675 Yamaha Clavinova so spectacular read on as we explain some of the more important features.Virtual Resonance Modelling
Unlike an acoustic piano, a digital piano is not designed to allow the sound to resonate through the body of the piano. This can make the sound feel rather flat and lifeless. To counteract this particular problem, Yamaha have introduced Virtual Resonance Modelling which is commonly abbreviated to VRM.This unique technology replicates the resonance which arises in a grand piano, when two strings interact with one another. This adds power, depth and life to the sound which is released from the CLP 675 Yamaha Clavinova –a feat which isn’t normally achievable in a digital piano. The new 600 series has now seen the VRM technology improved, and so provides more realism in the instrument.
Smooth Release Technology
To allow the pianist to play with tone, sound and style Yamaha have included their infamous Smooth Release Technology which enables a smooth transition between notes. This means the pianist can skip between staccato and legato passages without fault.GrandTouch Keyboard
While sound quality is always important, the sensation of playing a grand is one that is hard to beat. However, Yamaha have definitely tried their best. Alongside the fact that each of the 88 keys is topped with synthetic ivory, the keyboard is made from natural wood which has been dried specifically for use in musical instruments. We’re certain that you’ll notice the subtle difference between the common plastic keys and the wooden ones.
Linear Graded Hammer Action for 88 Individual Keys
As you play a grand piano, the keys spring back into place as your fingers release them and there is slight resistance which connects you with the heart of the instrument. Yamaha have tried to recreate this sensation by introducing a 88-key linear graded hammer action into the CLP 675 Yamaha Clavinova. This reproduces the resistance and the behaviour of the keys, improving the experience for those who are lucky enough to play this beautiful instrument.GP Response Damper Pedal
In addition to the 88-key linear graded hammer action, Yamaha have also integrated a GP Response Damper Pedal which mimics that of a grand. The resistance which is felt becomes stronger the deeper the pedal is depressed. This is good for developing your skills but also improving the overall playing experience of the Black Yamaha CLP 675 Clavinova.Power & Resonance
One of the most striking features of the beautiful CLP 675 is the power and resonance behind the sound. Yamaha have successfully achieved this by carefully positioning two way speakers within the body of the CLP 675 Clavinova and the effect expels the sound out across the audience – creating a truly sensation experience for both listeners and pianist.Full Review from our Resident Expert
