At Normans, we are always looking for ways to make a positive impact on our environment and we're excited to share some significant changes we've made towards sustainability. As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental footprint, A-Star Percussion products are now available in sustainable cardboard and paper packaging instead of plastic.
What Are the Key Changes in Packaging?
The transition to more sustainable packaging has involved several key modifications, aimed at reducing both plastic waste and carbon emissions:
-
Individual Items: Paper and Cardboard Wrapping
Previously, many A-Star Percussion individual items were wrapped in plastic and held together with staples. We’ve now moved to using recyclable paper and protective cardboard to replace plastic entirely. Not only does this make our packaging fully recyclable, but it also creates a safer experience for users, with no staples or sharp edges to worry about. -
Percussion Sets: Bespoke Cardboard Containers
Our popular A-Star Percussion Sets, which previously came in plastic tubs, have undergone a major transformation. These sets now come in bespoke cardboard boxes with integrated lids that make them perfect for easy storage. The new design is not only durable and rigid to ensure product safety but also significantly lighter. This weight reduction helps lower the emissions produced during delivery, offering an added environmental benefit.
With thousands of units sold each year, this move will make a meaningful impact in reducing emissions and cutting back on plastic waste.
The Environmental Impact
The impact of these changes is substantial. By eliminating plastic in our packaging, we’re helping to reduce the volume of plastic that ends up in landfills and oceans.
The switch to paper and cardboard makes our packaging 100% recyclable and the lighter weight of our percussion sets means reduced emissions from transport—both small but meaningful steps toward a healthier planet.
The transition covers nearly 200 products in the A-Star range, each making a small but valuable contribution to the big picture of environmental protection.
Looking Ahead: What’s Next?
We see this change to A-Star’s packaging as just the beginning. We’re already exploring how we can extend similar sustainable packaging to our other brands.
By making incremental but impactful changes across our brands, we aim to play our part in creating a more sustainable music industry.
