As popular as the Ukulele is getting, it’s hard to sift through the number of models that are currently on the market. Because of this, it’s hard to tell what the best price is to pay for a Ukulele. Unfortunately, it isn’t always as simple as one price being applicable for all players. So, hopefully this will clear up any confusion on Ukulele pricing.

Beginner Ukulele Prices

For beginners, generally I would suggest spending between £15 and £40. This is usually the price range that fits a good quality Ukulele that isn’t too expensive. For this price, you aren’t too far out of pocket if you don't end up sticking with the instrument. But likewise, you don’t want to be playing on a ukulele that isn’t adequate for progression. I wouldn’t suggest venturing any lower than models such as the 3^rd Avenue Ukuleles. 

Intermediate Ukulele Prices

If you’re looking for an upgrade Soprano Ukulele, I would personally suggest that £40-£100 is a good range. You can get models with nicer tonewoods, body binding, or even electronics built-in. Generally, this price range will be where you find the lower priced Concert, Tenor and Baritone Ukuleles. Though, Concert Ukuleles rarely come in qualities similar to Beginner Soprano Ukuleles. Ukuleles in this price range will be suitable for most hobby players, or for those who use Ukulele as a secondary instrument. They can be suitable for live performance as well as recording purposes.

Advanced/Professional Ukulele Prices

For the advancing player, or someone who is considering a professional model, the sky is the limit. Hand crafted or bespoke Ukuleles can cost into the thousands as with any instrument. For a player of this calibre, £100+ is definitely what you’ll be looking at. If you are looking for a professional model, you will most likely know what you need and what you like. So, it’s more a case of finding what will suit your requirements the most – and hoping it doesn’t come out too expensive! If you were looking into a Banjolele, most of these begin at around £100 and go upwards from there. Finding the best instrument for you can be tricky, as there are a lot out there.
